Breakdown Event

The Breakdown Event is the tenth Limited Time Event in Astroneer. It began on January 19, 2024, and ends on April 7, 2024. It added plenty of new LTE resources claimable from Pods with a glowing bottom located in caves, the deeper the better. The most basic (not refined) ones of them can also be claimed from Ice-olated Specimen (aka the "snowmen"). These resources can be traded at EXO Request Platform or combined with other LTE resources, to create more valuable products, again to be traded for (more) points.

Stages

Stage 1: Monday, January 29

• During this stage, players are able to loot pods in the Surface-Mantle region, gaining access to 2 new resources: Unknown Biofuel and Automaton 009, which make it possible to produce 2 new products: Squashothane and Cosmic Automaton.
• One of the following is required to open the pod:
  • Power
  • Resin
  • Compound

Stage 2: Monday, February 5

• During this stage, players are able to loot pods in the Mantle region, gaining access to 1 new resource: Resipound, which make it possible to produce new product: Cosmic Squash.

Pods in Mantle region may also contain Squashothane and Cosmic Automaton.

• One of the following is required to open the pod:
  • Power
  • Laterite
  • Glass

Stage 3: Monday, February 12

• During this stage, players are able to loot pods in the Core region, gaining access to 1 new resource: Leek, which make it possible to produce new products: Noxomaton 002, Omnugget and Burrito?.

Pods in Mantle region may also contain Cosmic Squash and Noxomaton 002. Pods with a golden glowing bottom, and a Leek requirement always produce an Omnugget, whilst golden Pods with Resipound requirement always produce a Winch. Golden Ice-olated Specimen in the Mantle always produce a Winch.

• 111, 519 Points: NEW “Liminal Leak” Palette
• 000000 Points: <Redacted>
• 888,888 Points: NEW “Explosive Personality” Hat
• Useful incremental rewards along the way and randomized recurring rewards at the end of the event – including useful resources, various Rail components, QT-RTGs, Portable Smelters, and Dynamite!
