Buggies are the second tier of land Vehicles in Astroneer, and are traditionally used as scout vehicles.
The Buggy requires 1x Compound and 1x Aluminum to print at the Medium Printer.
Buggies have a small built-in battery, and like other rovers, need power to operate. Also like other rovers, Buggies function as an infinite Oxygen supply while being driven or stood next to. The Buggy is different to others rovers, as you can't connect the Buggy to a platform or Habitat to charge it due to a lack of power ports on the vehicle. As such, they cannot be hooked to other vehicles to form trains or be towed. The only way to move it is to use a Winch, and the only way to charge it is with a Tier-1 power generating module, like a Small Battery or some Power Cells.
The Buggy is much smaller than other rovers and thus is not ideal for carrying loads or gathering resources (consider the Medium Rover or Large Rover for gathering resources and items such as research), however, it is noticeably faster than the other two due to its small frame. Also, due to it's high strength:weight ratio, it is capable of climbing sheer, near vertical walls, though it does not have good entrance and departure angles.

Uses
- Buggies are ideal for exploration. They do not require much energy, since any power-generating widget will work.
- They are faster and easier to maneuver than the Medium Rover or Large Rover.
- They can climb very steep inclines, such as mountains. They can even be used in large caves, due to their small size and high maneuverability.
- Due to the fact that they only contain two tier-one slots, larger items such as research items cannot be stored on-board the vehicle.
Essentials
- A Rover Seat is required to drive the Buggy.
Power
- Power Consumption Rate: 0.019 U/s
- Power Capacity: 1 U
- The Buggy will consume one bar of battery in 210 seconds.
- The internal battery has 4 segments, each segment will last ~52 seconds.
- By Module - via Power generating module such as, but not limited to: Generators, Solar panels, Wind Turbines
- By Object - via collected Power Cells
Storage
- A Buggy has one Tier-2 and two Tier-1 Attachment Slots. However, you must use 2 of these slots for a Rover Seat in order to drive the Buggy.
- Small Battery - Increases the Buggy's power capacity by 8 bars or 1680 seconds (28 minutes) per battery.
- Power Cells - Generates 12 bars as necessary, increasing the Buggy's drive time by up to 2520 seconds (42 minutes) per power cell.
- Small Generator - Generates 25 bars; Z or X buttons can be used to toggle the generator on and off while driving the vehicle.
- Small Solar Panel or Small Wind Turbine - Both widgets will fill the entire power gauge in eight seconds or less, making them automatic if potentially unreliable power solutions.
Trivia
- A Buggy can be used as a supply of unlimited oxygen.
- If you're in a driver's seat, debris from storms cannot hurt you, which can make a vehicle a viable hiding place to wait out dangerous storms. As a precaution, note that vehicles do not auto-brake when a player is stationed in a chair on them, meaning storms will blow the Buggy around.
- Buggies lack power sockets, making it impossible to chain them with other rovers or plug them directly into networked power.
