The Gravity Globe is a recreational item in Astroneer.
Source[]
Gravity Globes may be found on various wrecks around the planets, most notably atop naturally-spawning Landing Pads, as well as from the Trade Platform for 8x
Astronium.
Uses[]
The Gravity Globe is a recreational Vehicle, resembling a large glass ball with a seat inside for one rider. An Astroneer can enter and use standard vehicle controls to pilot the globe, which has a moderate top speed but overall poor acceleration and handling on its own. Its primary intended use is to serve as a vehicle to navigate specially-designed obstacle courses with high-speed ramps and jumps, or any other recreational uses an Astroneer can think of.
As with all vehicles, the Gravity Globe serves as a source of unlimited Oxygen, however it has no Attachment Slots with which to carry any additional Items or Modules. This combined with the aforementioned poor handling make it an overall impractical choice for a general-purpose vehicle.
The Gravity Globe has one uniquely useful trait among vehicles, however: It is the only vehicle which can naturally spawn fully-intact on the surface of a planet, requiring no resources or Bytes to acquire. It is also unique among land vehicles in that it requires no Power source in order to operate. Thus, despite its poor handling and lack of inventory space, it can serve as an Astroneer's first vehicle to aid in early exploration while they acquire the bytes and resources to manufacture a better one, such as the Buggy or Tractor.
Serving as a fully-intact, naturally spawning infinite oxygen source also means it may be of particular use to players playing in Hardcore mode, or any custom mode in which your starting shelter does not deploy. In these scenarios, the Gravity Globe can serve as an Astroneer's first unlimited oxygen source before obtaining the resources and bytes to manufacture an Oxygenator.
Notes[]
- Galastropods and EVA may be placed into the seat of the Gravity Globe, allowing them to travel around without player input.
- The Gravity Globe acts as a Rover Seat if placed on a Vehicle, allowing players to drive Rovers or Rail Cars, or as an extra seat inside a Shuttle.
- The Gravity Globe is large in tier, however it fits in a small slot when packaged.
- Gravity globe doesn’t require external power source to work, and it’s the only vehicle able to jump.
- Reaching top speed in the Gravity Globe will complete the Globe Trotting mission, which is assigned upon boarding a Gravity Globe for the first time. The reward for beating the mission Globe Trotting is the emote Dizzy.
