Printers are a type of module in Astroneer that are used to craft all craftable items in the game.
They require power and resources to operate.
Types and Uses
There are currently four types of printer in the game:
- Backpack Printer: Prints Tier 1 items. The only printer that cannot be crafted and is only accessible via the backpack.
- Small Printer: Prints Tier 2 and some Tier 1 items.
- Medium Printer: Prints Tier 3 items.
- Large Printer: Prints Tier 4 items.
Once an item has finished printing, it will appear in the world or on an attachment slot. Medium, Large and Extra Large items will be placed in Crates, for easier transportation. Items printed with the Backpack Printer move to an open slot in the player‘s inventory or fall to the ground if no slot is open.
Small, Medium, and Large Printers can be set to repeat, allowing them to print the same item repeatedly until resources run out. Items will continue to print when more resources are provided, allowing for automation setups of printing items.
